Information, Resources and Updates for KidCheck Users

So begins the long night of the years first major code release. We're about 2 hours before we take the servers off-line to deploy KidCheck v2.0 and I have to say I'm pretty excited about getting this out there. We've been feverishly working on new code & features for about the last 5 months now, tested, checked, re-checked, printed about a bazillion labels and worked with developers as far away as Kenya to make it all happen.

Just wanted to say a quick thanks to everyone for your feedback and support! I can honestly say we are very privileged to have a truly amazing group of KidCheck customers. Thanks for being a part of this and investing back in us!

Ok, time to go to work. I'll let you know how it goes...

Thanks,
Alex

Update 1 (1 hour to go) - Release code has finished compiling & is being uploaded to the production servers. There are 6 servers that must all work in unison to make KidCheck function, so now it's time for backups of everything. We're also going to setup a fall-back system with v1.93 (the previous version) so we have a "Plan B" should things not go as expected.

Update 2 (30 min to go) All backups are done & sync with our off-site backup vault has started. We pulled our main production web server off line already (everything is running on our secondary server so you'd never know) and the new code is deployed & running on the server. We'll run it through a few tests and let it site idle while we start work on the main database server. Lots to do here to get stuff preped. (kinda like a cooking show ;)

Update 3 (deploy + 15 min) It's all done. Production servers are all updated & the new system deployed. It actually went smoother than expected, but since we had rehearsed it about half a dozen times... Total down time was about 30 sec. Enjoy everyone & let us know if you run into any snags.

BTW - I really like the new People tab. That in itself was worth the update to me.
