Information, Resources and Updates for KidCheck Users

Here's a question that came from one of our users via email a couple of days ago. I realized that this might be an issue that others may be experiencing so here's a post about it.

"Key Tag Issue: We have noticed that sometimes a key tag that has been successfully used in prior weeks suddenly does not work and needs to be re-registered. Do you have any idea why this may be happening? It does not happen most of the time, but it happens frequently enough, and over the course of several weeks, that it makes me wonder."

Resolution:
KidCheck only allows 1 keytag to be registered to a primary guardian. Sometimes this issue comes up when parents attempt to create a "joint" account.

Let's say Dad comes to check in the kids and uses a home phone which pulls up Mom's account. Then an attendant offers him a key tag (or he registers one himself). Scanning a second keytag will cause the first one to be un-registered. So next week, when mom checks in the kids, her keytag will not work.

To resolve this, have the spouse set up their own account at KidCheck.com and then have the primary guardian add their spouse as a guardian for the children. Then they can have their own keytag without any issues.

Also, if a mom has already created an account & the system just finds her when you click on the "IDHaKA" link, the system just takes you to the check-in screen. For security, once an account is created you can't edit it at the check-in station, just when the account is initially setup.

If mom is going to be the "primary guardian" then you can enter in her info first. Then after the kids are entered, you have the opportunity to add any additional guardians. (dad, grandma, friend, etc)

Here is how the wizard is logically setup:
1) enter in the primary guardian's info
2) enter in each kids info and then
3) enter in any additional guardian's info

Thanks Alex, if both parents are present- how can this be done in "I don't have a kidcheck account" link? I've tried this route, but in entering in the phone number it finds the mom, or the option to choose "I'm not in this list" but then you get a seperate account and duplicate children. Am I missing something?

Actually, to add in another guardian on an account, all the mom has to do is add dad to her account. You can do this either when the parent initially follows the "I don't have a kidcheck account" link on the check-in station or from home when they log in.

But you're absolutely right, if Dad creates a new account and re-adds the kids to his account, the system doesn't know that they are in deed the same kids and treats them like a new set of kids. This is actually a security feature for the case that mom & dad are seperated and need individual guardian lists.

So to give dad his own keytag, have mom go online & simply add him to her account as an authorized guardian. (mom has to do it to verify that he truly is an authorized guardian) Then you can issue dad his own keytag next time he comes to check in his kids.

the problem I've run into is this: The mother has created the account- and I've given her a keytag. The following week, the father tries to check in the kids, but only the mothers name is displayed. So, in order to create the Father an account- we must set up a seperate account for him and add the kids to check in. But in the reports- it shows duplicate of the kids- each parent with the same kids. Am I doing this correctly. The purpose is to provide the father with a keytag also.

Great question Troy. No. Parents can use the same phone number. If they put in a common phone number, it will provide you a list of possible matches for you to identify yourself from. Parents must each have a separate account to which a keytag is linked. The keytag links to an internal account number that is unique for every account.

Will they have to use different phone numbers to check in and assign the key tags?
