Alex Smith Editing Authorized Guardian Lists

Well, after much debate (and I mean MUCH) we decided to enable the editing of parent's guardian lists in the people section. This gives you complete control over a parents account can allows you to add/remove and change the authorization of a guardian.

This should come in really handy when addressing things like duplicate kids (because parents aren't linked to each others account) unlinked parents and quickly adding in unauthorized guardians for folks that don't have a login

Christopher G. Sykes Inexpensive Mobile Station for around $600

We've been using KidCheck very successfully since February, and we love it. To increase our capacity for check-in, spread waiting parents further apart, and add flexibility for special events, we've put together a couple of inexpensive mobile units. Of course, you might also find this information helpful even… Continue

Brad Hennessy Promoting Kids to the Next Grade Level

"How do I move kids to the next grade?" We often get this question around this time of year and here are some tips to make it simple and easy. But first...a little background...

Unlike a traditional database where grade levels might be determined by birth date, all of KidChecks' grade level information is stored via check in records (locations) rather than a data field. KidCheck was designed this way intentionally as it provides flexibility for younger children in that they won't be pig… Continue

Brad Hennessy What's your story?

Hi Team of KidCheck Users!

I'm working on a project to revamp our website and I need your help. My goal in the end is to have our website include much more "story". Most products differentiate themselves by listing unique features with an occasional testimonial thrown in. Quite frankly, it's boring, and doesn't engage the "right brained" creative types that so many children's pastors are.

Stories are different from testimonials in the fact that they have a beginning, middle, an… Continue

Brad Hennessy Have you joined the Label Auto-Restock Program yet?

Let’s face it, you're busy!
Keeping track of how many rolls of check-in labels you have is something you don’t need on your plate. That’s why KidCheck is happy to announce the Label Auto-Restock Program.

Here's How It Works:

Just let us know:
  1. How many rolls of labels you have on hand right now
  2. How many rolls of labels you want to receive when we ship them to you
  3. The minimum number of rolls you want on hand b

Alex Smith Adding a New Family to KidCheck

We've been working hard on simplifying the process to add in a new family from the check-in station. We've just released a new interface for that process. Below is an overview video on how the new system works.

Brad Hennessy New Feature! Choose your optional questions!

For some of our church customers who only have one service, the optional check-in question "My Child is Staying for Multiple Services" has created some confusion.

Now, you can choose which questions you want to show in the check in screen under "Check-in Station Settings", in the "Settings" section of KidCheck.

A default set of questions will be automatically established when you select an organization type, however, you can choose your own set if the default set doesn't suit y… Continue

Alex Smith Deleting a Family From KidCheck

We get asked this question pretty frequently. “I have a family that doesn’t bring their kids here any longer, how do I remove them from KidCheck?” The simple answer is “you don’t.”

Remember that KidCheck is a legal record of who was in your care at what times and when, so for legal purposes, you don’t ever want to remove anyone from the system, and we purposely designed it as such.

Alex Smith Visual Paging Systems & KidCheck

We've had a few recent questions about how to effectively use KidCheck with visual paging systems. If your church doesn't already have an LED visual pager, it probably has some capability to visually page parents in service if you are using presentation software like Media Shout to project song lyrics & backup material for the sermon. KidCheck was designed with these types of systems in mind and works well with visual paging displays.

Brad Hennessy We need your input....

We're exploring integrating in a background check service into KidCheck and would love to hear your thoughts on how (or if) such a service could serve you best. If you all wouldn't mind sharing with us... 1) Would you use the service if it was integrated? 2) What you currently pay for background checks, and do you feel it is a good value? 3) What do you like or dislike about your current background check provider? 4) Any other thoughts or ideas regarding background screenings. Thanks! Continue

Alex Smith Well, here goes nothing...

So begins the long night of the years first major code release. We're about 2 hours before we take the servers off-line to deploy KidCheck v2.0 and I have to say I'm pretty excited about getting this out there. We've been feverishly working on new code & features for about the last 5 months now, tested, checked, re-checked, printed about a bazillion labels and worked with developers as far away as Kenya to make it all happen. Just wanted to say a quick thanks to everyone for your feedback a… Continue

Michelle Guardian Login Account Registration

I have at least 2 families that I know of who have created accounts, but are not showing up on my Guardian Login Account Registration report. I am concerned there are more that I do not know about. How can I make sure that everyone who has created accounts is on that list? We are rolling out this weekend! I am nervous and excited all at once! Thanks so much! ~Michelle Continue

Alex Smith Using KidCheck on a "Previously Loved" PC

Because KidCheck is a 100% web-based system it really doesn't take any additional PC horsepower to make it run well outside what it takes to make the O/S run. As a result, the system will run really well on any old or donated PC that can run Windows XP or later. But a "free" PC can still have it's issues, so here are a few tips to make sure your "new to me PC" provides your parents with the best possible experience. 1) Blow It Away! - As with any computer where you don't know what's on i… Continue

Alex Smith Using KidCheck with Touch Screens

If you're looking to add that "wow" factor to check-in, a good touch screen is certainly one way to add it. And while they are cool (and expensive) there are a few things you need to consider before making the plunge to a touch screen experience: 1) Does KidCheck work with touch screens? - Absolutely it does. In fact, your primary demo system here in the office (affectionately called "… Continue

Alex Smith How to Quickly Switch Check-in Templates

One question I get occasionally is "When I need to switch check-in templates between services, I hate having to log out of check-in and then restart the correct template. How can I make this faster?" Well, there are a few "hidden" features in KidCheck that can make this a lot easier for you. In the top right corner of the check-in screen is a link called "Close." This link launches the pop-up window that allows you to log-out of check-in. But this window has several additional tools besides jus… Continue
