Alex Smith Custom Labels in KidCheck v3!

A new feature that we were able to sneak into v3.0 of KidCheck is the ability to create completely custom check-in labels for your organization.

Since KidCheck v3.0 relies on using the DYMO software libraries to print out all our labels, this means you can completely customize all the…

Alex Smith An end to Java and ActiveX?

One of the most difficult things you can to when it comes to writing web software is to tie in with physical hardware like printers and scanners. This is because the web was designed to try to prevent this (so a hacker couldn't take over a hardware device on a computer from the web remotely) but this is something that KidCheck has to be able to do in order to seamlessly print out labels and read barcodes.

For the last 2 years, we've relied on 2 different technologies to…

Alex Smith Automatically Switch Templates

Just wanted to let everyone know about a new feature that we've added to the system. If you're running multiple templates back-to-back for a given event (like Sunday AM check-in), you may find it handy to have KidCheck automatically switch templates for you. We're added a new feature called Check-in Programs to do just that.

A check-in program is simply a list of check-in templates. Within that list, you…

Ben Wickstrom Forum Spam

There was someone that sent out a spam message this morning to all the users on the KidCheck forum. We have suspended the user and deleted any posts from them. We apologize for this, however, it is one of the downsides to using a public forum.

Brad Hennessy Importing Data into a Church Management Database

One of the questions we get asked often is how to best move data from KidCheck to a ChMS (Church Managment Software). Due to the fact that parents can directly input data into KidCheck, the information in KidCheck can a great resource to help keep the information in your management database up to date.

Here are some of the ways to import data:

Alex Smith Editing Authorized Guardian Lists

Well, after much debate (and I mean MUCH) we decided to enable the editing of parent's guardian lists in the people section. This gives you complete control over a parents account can allows you to add/remove and change the authorization of a guardian.

This should come in really handy when addressing things like duplicate kids (because parents aren't linked to each others account) unlinked parents and quickly adding in unauthorized guardians for folks that don't have a…

Christopher G. Sykes Inexpensive Mobile Station for around $600

We've been using KidCheck very successfully since February, and we love it. To increase our capacity for check-in, spread waiting parents further apart, and add flexibility for special events, we've put together a couple of inexpensive mobile units. Of course, you might also find this information helpful even if you're setting up a station that you don't plan to roll around.

When looking for mobile carts, it was difficult to find anything inexpensive. The mobile…

Brad Hennessy Promoting Kids to the Next Grade Level

"How do I move kids to the next grade?" We often get this question around this time of year and here are some tips to make it simple and easy. But first...a little background...

Unlike a traditional database where grade levels might be determined by birth date, all of KidChecks' grade level information is stored via check in records (locations) rather than a data field. KidCheck was designed this way intentionally as it provides flexibility for younger children in that they won't be… Continue

Let’s face it, you're busy!

Keeping track of how many rolls of check-in labels you have is something you don’t need on your plate. That’s why KidCheck is happy to announce the Label Auto-Restock Program.

Just let us know:

Brad Hennessy New Feature! Choose your optional questions!

For some of our church customers who only have one service, the optional check-in question "My Child is Staying for Multiple Services" has created some confusion.

Now, you can choose which questions you want to show in the check in screen under "Check-in Station Settings", in the "Settings" section of KidCheck.

A default set of questions will be automatically established when you select an organization type, however, you can choose your own set if the default set doesn't suit… Continue
