Brad Hennessy replied to Amanda Rehm's discussion 'Automatic class placement'
Hi Amanda, Thanks for your feedback!  Here's our thinking behind KidCheck's current design.  I hope it provides some insight into why we've chosen not to automatically place kids into classrooms and what you can do to help…

Brad Hennessy replied to Keith Hauenstein's discussion 'Multiple volunteer check-in'
Hi Keith,  This question comes up often as there certainly are lots of families where both parents (and sometimes even the kids) volunteer.  KidCheck is intentionally designed to be centered around 1 primary guardian for security reasons,…

Great questions! I don't see any advantages to creating a new template. If you do, parents are still going to have to choose locations the first time they check in, and all the reports can be filtered by date range which essentially gives you…

I have another "Promotion" Idea. What would happen if we created a new template for each year? In other words, I have a Sunday Morning template for Sunday school. What if this year, I created a new Sunday Morning 2010-11? I'll be…

The admin console only lists kids that are currently checked in, so you won't be able to preassign them. However, once they are checked in, you can dynamically move a child from one location to another either by confirming their arrival into…

Is there a way to use the Admin Console to preassign kids to a location during the week leading up to promotion? I really like the way I was able to use the Event registration tab to preassign my kids for VBS so that there was no guessing which…

Promoting Kids to the Next Grade Level

"How do I move kids to the next grade?" We often get this question around this time of year and here are some tips to make it simple and easy. But first...a little background...Unlike a traditional database where grade levels might be determined by birth date, all of KidChecks' grade level information is stored via check in records (locations) rather than a data field. KidCheck was designed this way intentionally as it provides flexibility for younger children in that they won't be pigeon holed…See More

This isn't something I had thought of before now, but it has been somewhat confusing for some of our parents as well. Thanks for this change.

You can export the MIA report into an Excel list. Once it is in that format, you can use the filter to show you just who is absent.

Hi Barbara, The thought occurred to us that you might be talking about the labels... KidCheck automatically scales the font size depending on the number of characters in a child's name. We've tinkered with making it larger, and found…

New Feature! Choose your optional questions!

For some of our church customers who only have one service, the optional check-in question "My Child is Staying for Multiple Services" has created some confusion. Now, you can choose which questions you want to show in the check in screen under "Check-in Station Settings", in the "Settings" section of KidCheck.A default set of questions will be automatically established when you select an organization type, however, you can choose your own set if the default set doesn't suit your organizational…See More

Hi Charisa, Yes...we've experienced the same here and we lost a server this past sunday. We just replaced that server today and we're making some additional changes to our network setup which should make it noticeably faster.
