Laptops are great.  Netbooks a inexpensive, but the small screen can impact the parent experience for sure.

I like the idea of a Pelican case.  You could easily put in a laptop, printer & scanner with all the cords & it's easy to transport & totally indestructible.  Are you planning on using laptops or netbooks?

Nope.  They won't show up until you've actually checked them in.

You're not doing anything wrong.  People only show up there once they have been checked in at least 1 time.     Remember KidCheck is a global system and with 500,000 people in it, the only way we know who belongs in your database…

For specific medical information (like physician info, etc) you probably want to stick with the paper system for now & then upload that information into the notes system (people tab) for each specific child.  (you're going to want…

Alex Smith replied to Bethany Boring's discussion 'Parents checking into wrong class'
The easiest thing to do is use the Admin Console to move the kids to the correct class.  Then when they are checked in next time, the correct class will be selected for the parents by default.

Custom Labels in KidCheck v3!

A new feature that we were able to sneak into v3.0 of KidCheck is the ability to create completely custom check-in labels for your organization.   Since KidCheck v3.0 relies on using the DYMO software libraries to print out all our labels, this means you can completely customize all the labels that get printed.  Curved text,…See More

Hi Amanda.   The procedure you are doing to text message a parent is correct.  You would scan in either a child's name tag or the barcode from the current check-in roster (or go to detail lookup in the administrators console) to send…

They need to be in the system before you can add them as a volunteer. So just have your volunteers go to the check-in station & click the "I don't have a KidCheck account" link & just enter themselves in. Once the system takes…

An end to Java and ActiveX?

One of the most difficult things you can to when it comes to writing web software is to tie in with physical hardware like printers and scanners. This is because the web was designed to try to prevent this (so a hacker couldn't take over a hardware device on a computer from the web remotely) but this is something that KidCheck has to be able to do in order to seamlessly print out labels and read barcodes. For the last 2 years, we've relied on 2 different technologies to make this happen, ActiveX…See More

Automatically Switch Templates

Just wanted to let everyone know about a new feature that we've added to the system. If you're running multiple templates back-to-back for a given event (like Sunday AM check-in), you may find it handy to have KidCheck automatically switch templates for you. We're added a new feature called Check-in Programs to do just that.

A check-in program is simply a list of check-in templates. Within that list, you…

Editing Authorized Guardian Lists

Well, after much debate (and I mean MUCH) we decided to enable the editing of parent's guardian lists in the people section. This gives you complete control over a parents account can allows you to add/remove and change the authorization of a guardian.

This should come in really handy when addressing things like duplicate kids (because parents aren't linked to each others account) unlinked parents and quickly adding in unauthorized guardians for folks that don't have a…
