KidCheck is certainly flexible enough to work with student ministries. However, it does present it's unique set of challenges because it's really designed for younger children. Many churches have attempted different ways to do this, all of which work to varying degrees as far as actual check in.
Here is how we suggest churches go about using KidCheck to track teens:
1) Have parents set up parent accounts in KidCheck and list their teens. This is important so that you still have primary guardian information at your fingertips in the event of an emergency. Some churches have had teens create their own accounts independent of the parents account, we do not recommend this as they are still minors and you should have parent information available.
2) Once the parent creates the account, have them add their teen as a guardian for him/herself. Many parents may have already done this if the teen has younger siblings.
3) If the teen is a guardian for themselves, they can then check themselves in using a home phone, their personal cell phone, or a keytag.
4) Churches can also use the "Self Check-In List" report in our report library to check in teens. Simply run the report with a parameter set for the specific teen locations.
This was helpful and may serve as a work-around to my question. We allow for youth volunteers, but KidCheck only permits us to input a volunteer role for people who have parent accounts. Is there any suggestion you have or is there any developement underway to allow for this option? Thank you!
Another note, wouldn't creating the guardian account and child account for the same youth create double accounts when searching for them in the people tab?
