KidCheck Users Group

Information, Resources and Updates for KidCheck Users

We've had several occurrences lately of the check-in process locking up at the first step of the validation process.  The kids get checked in, but the computer freezes and of course there are no labels.  Do you know what causes this, and is there a way to ensure that it doesn't happen?  It has happened on all of our machines, so it's not just a symptom of wireless networking.  It just seems to have increased lately. I think it's happened at least once or twice during each of our check-in times during the last couple of weeks.

What browser and O/S are you using? We've had several reports from folks around this & have been working feverishly the last few days to see if we can reliably replicate the issue.
We're running Windows XP Home and using Internet Explorer. I'll have to double check what version of IE, but it should be the most current.
Looks like this was related to IE caching some code longer than it was supposed to. Here's the fix:

Open up IE (don't go to KidCheck yet) and go to Tools -> Options

1) In the Browser History section, click on the "Settings" button.

2) Click the "Settings" button & select "Everytime I Visit the Webpage". This will instruct IE to check the web page for changes on each visit. Then click "Ok" at the bottom.

3) Click the "Delete..." button. In the next dialog, clear all check-boxes except the "Temporary Internet Files" checkbox & click "Delete" at the bottom.

4) Restart your browser, login to KidCheck & run check-in.
Thank you for the solution. We have also been experiencing this problem. In fact that was one of the things I was looking for by coming to the user group pages. Unfortunately, the computer we use is my computer as the children's minister. I will have to put account numbers back in place for several sites that I use regularly. :( Oh, well, the problem needed to be addressed.
We are still experiencing this problem at least once a session. It is not the computer freezing.
We are too Tammy. I know Alex and the guys are working to fix the problem. We are using machines with Windows XP. Are you also using XP as your operating system?
Yes, we are also using Windows XP. Supposedly a new computer is being put together that will have Windows 7, but I don't know how long it will be before that is put into place.
Having talked with Alex several times, he has decided that it has something to do specifically with XP. Since we use our check-in in environments when we print and when we don't, we have pretty much determined that it is mostly related to printing. When we don't print (for our weekday preschool), we rarely have problems. When we print (Sunday/Wednesday), we often do. Today was a good day, however. We didn't have any reports of problems.

My student pastor uses a mac and never has issues. When I use my mac, I never have issues. Alex tells me that Windows 7 users don't have issues. It's just something with XP.
