Information, Resources and Updates for KidCheck Users
To send a text message to a parent aren't you supposed to scan the barcode on the child's tag (while in the checkin mode), which will bring up a page where you can type in the message? Today at church we were having issues with this. It has been quite a while since we had to text a parent and so we couldn't remember if we were doing it right or not?

The procedure you are doing to text message a parent is correct. You would scan in either a child's name tag or the barcode from the current check-in roster (or go to detail lookup in the administrators console) to send a parent a text message. This feature is available in our Standard Edition and higher product.
It looks like Orchard Grove initially signed up for the Campus Edition which includes this feature, but then you downgraded to the Essentials Edition on 12/28/10. The Essentials Edition does not include text messaging as a feature.
For a full list of features by product edition, check out our edition comparison here.
