Information, Resources and Updates for KidCheck Users

Looking for a self-check in option more appropriate for older, more responsible children – something that lets them feel more “grown-up” and provides parents an opportunity to give them more responsibility?  Or do you need a self-check in option to better fit your facility’s unique process to streamline check-in?

While still allowing you to quickly and easily track attendance, KidCheck’s self check-in feature allows the child to have some more control, or provides you with an alternate check-in process to better meet your specific needs.

With child self check-in and check-out you can create laminated name badges to be used by the older, self-sufficient children. They simply scan the barcode on the laminated badge to complete the check-in and check-out process. With self check-in the name badge will contain the same important information, such as name and medical/allergy alert, as you are used to with traditional check-in, plus also has an option for a photo. It includes your organization’s name and phone number, but does not include other identifying personal or contact information, in case it is misplaced.  With this process, at check-in a name label will not need to be printed and a guardian receipt will not print.

To utilize and set up the laminated badges go to reports and choose either the "Child Name Badge" report (under Name Badge section) or the "Self Check-in" report (under Class Rosters section). Both provide the ability to print the badges on Avery labels, which you'll then need to laminate.

For additional peace-of-mind and to help you with overall communication, guardians that have enabled SMS text messaging notifications will receive an automatic text message letting them know when their child has checked in and out.

What if you are utilizing self check-in for children attending on their own? If circumstances determine the account can't be set up by an adult guardian, the youth can complete the account on their own.

  • Even though they are the child, they should still choose the “I am a parent and want to set up a free account”.
  • When they first sign up to create the account the initial contact name and information input in the “my profile” tab should be their parent’s/guardian’s, not theirs.
  • They should approach the account set-up as if they are the guardian completing the account and they themselves are the child.
  • After completing the main adult information, they will see the “my children” tab where they input their own personal information.
  • If there are additional guardians the youth wants included as emergency contacts they should be added in the “my guardian” tab.
  • This will result in a complete login account.  Depending on the circumstances they can choose to enable text message to the guardian or not.

We suggest keeping the labels organized in an easy to access spot so they can be readily found for check-in and replaced for check-out.  For example a small file card holder stored right next to the check-in station with badges sorted by first letter of first or last name.
