Information, Resources and Updates for KidCheck Users

We currently have 3 check in stations on identical machines. Two of them are 'losing' the licensing every time the computer is restarted. Is this a network issue, security setting issue or what? Could multiple user logins cause it?

There are several potential causes of licensing issues. The license info is stored on your system as a cookie (text file) and that file can be wiped out by your system in a few scenarios.

#1 Cause - Norton/Symantec Antivirus.

Norton automatically deletes cookies as part of it's "security" process. This is its default behavior. If you have to live with Norton (moment of silence for you) then lookfor an option to allow cookies to be saved.

#2 Cause - Shutting down the check-in station without closing IE. (aka, pushing the power button)

Since the cookie file is open by IE, when it's forced to shutdown it corrupts the cookie file. (It's a Microsoft "Feature")

And, since every user has a completely seperate cookie database, multiple Windows user account can ABSOLUTELY cause this as well.
