Information, Resources and Updates for KidCheck Users

I really wish that there was a way to automatically place children in a classroom based on their birthdate. We have so many parents who simply do not pay attention when they check in and I end up with 5th graders checked into the infant room.  Our last check-in system had the automatic grade placement based upon the child's age and it was so great.

Hi Amanda,

Thanks for your feedback!  Here's our thinking behind KidCheck's current design.  I hope it provides some insight into why we've chosen not to automatically place kids into classrooms and what you can do to help your parents and volunteers choose appropriate classrooms.

KidCheck is intentionally designed to be flexible for the needs of several different types of organizations.  Churches, preschools, athletic facilities, and activity centers.  As part of this flexibility, we didn't want to pigeon hole kids into particular classrooms based on age (Imagine the 60lb two year old who beats up on his classmates) or grade, but rather give parents and administrators the flexibility to place kids in whichever room is most appropriate.

With this flexibility, there are certainly going to be cases where parents place kids in the wrong rooms.  Sometimes because they don't read, or sometimes because they simply don't know which classroom to put them in.  One thing that we have found helps tremendously is to include the ages in the location name.  For example: 1st Grade (ages 6-7); Whales: room 102 (ages 3-4)

This helps parents and volunteers find the appropriate classroom.

If you have a parent check the child into the wrong class, you can change it from the Admin console and the system will remember it from that point forward.

Hope that helps!
